WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2008
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58
It's Personal
Hope this isn't too transparent for some of you - or me. I've set some preliminary goals for 2oo8. Want to see them? Read more.

Warning: Funk Alert!
You know the "downtown" versions that we've done. Well, there's a song we'll be worshiping with in three weeks that we are all familiar with. However, the style of music will be FUNK for this one. Check out the audio to "Ancient of Days" link in the right column for 1/27. The nice part is the vocals can sing the regular harmonies - but the chording will be funk-tified. Good thing, because the vocals aren't too great on the recording. What's funk? Read about the history of funk.
2008 Change: Two NEW Orchestras
Our existing orchestra instrumentalists at TBC have been hearing about this for months, but many other might now have heard yet. Beginning in 2008, the existing orchestra will turn into TWO orchestras. Two? That's right. Two orchestras. One will be a non-auditioned "All-Church Orchestra" that will play every 2 months on a weekend without the Mass Vocal Group. This All-Church Orchestra will be a multi-generational of all playing levels. The other orchestra will be a very streamlined "Studio Orchestra" that will play with the Mass Vocal Group on weekends. It's important to note that Studio Orchestra members are required to be in the All-Church Orchestra. In other words, the Studio Orchestra is a very small branch of the All-Church Orchestra. I'm exicted about this change because of opportunity to connect with a wider range of musicians. As you see new musicians, welcome them to the TBC worship family. Oh, by the way, I'll be PLAYING in the All-Church Orchestra myself. Want to know what I'll be playing? Check out WM next week and I'll let you know.
Guest Musicians at TBC
In 2 weeks, the Jews for Jesus "Liberated Wailing Wall" will be our guest worship leaders at TBC for all 3 services of worship. Jim Congdon has arranged for this group to be with us on this morning. I'm looking forward to having them be with us. Read more about the group here.
No Rehearsal on 1/17
There will be no rehearsal on 1/17 due to the Liberated Wailing Wall leading TBC in worship on 1/20.
Attention All Singers: Next Rehearsal
The next mass vocal group rehearsal will be Thursday, January 24 from 6:45pm to 8:00pm in preparation to lead worship on January 27.
Attention All Orchestra Musicians
Our first All-Church Orchestra rehearsal will be Saturday, February 9 from 9:30am to 11am in preparation to lead worship on February 10.
A New Face
Assisting me in rehearsal and leading the All-Church Orchestra this first round will be TBC's own Jen Hoover. She's played clarinet in the orchestra in 2007 and has a degree in church music from Southwest Baptist University. Why is she assisting me? So I can PLAY in the orchestra! Don't know who Jen is? Here's a picture of Jen - so say hello next time you see her.
